Why did you choose UAB?

While I was deciding which college I wanted to go to, several things drew me towards UAB. I initially considered attending a school out of state, and the myriad of opportunities available on campus played a huge part. One of the primary reasons was UAB’s reputation for pre-med programs. Aspiring to pursue a career in a rehabilitation field, I was keen on selecting a university that not only had a strong curriculum but also provided opportunities for hands-on experience and connections throughout college. I also learned that within my major, UAB will help to set me up with an internship in my senior year and that definitively drew me in. Additionally, UAB’s reputation for diversity played a large role in my decision-making process. The student body is also very inclusive and also hosts lots of clubs, events, and activities and I knew I would find my people while there. Any interest I have, they have a club for it, and if they didn’t have a specific one I was looking for, I could simply create it. I knew that UAB would offer me a well-rounded college experience where I could learn while also growing myself in many aspects.

Why did you choose your major?

I grew up playing sports, and I've always had an interest in the human body, and how it moves. Throughout high school I took a sports medicine class, and that solidified my interest in the Kinesiology field.

What is your favorite thing about the UAB School of Education and Human Sciences?

The UAB School of Education and Human Sciences is such a tight knit community. Every professor makes themselves highly accessible to their students, and they are very helpful.

What class have you enjoyed the most so far at UAB?

I have enjoyed Motor Development the most. We were able to go to an Elementary After-School care, where we taught students different motor movements by use of sports and games.

What piece of advice would you give a prospective SOEHS student?

I would tell a prospective student to make connections with their peers and professors.

What are your plans after you graduate from UAB?

I plan to go to Occupational Therapy School.
