Veterans Services recently hosted a toy drive to lighten the burden of less fortunate students who are also veterans. They presented toys and bikes to grateful men and women who were able to a put a smile on the faces of their children.

Veterans Services celebrated UAB's men and women of service leading up to Veterans Day
During the week leading up to Veteran's Day the Department of Veterans Services paid honor to UAB Students and staff who are veterans of the armed forces. The men and women of service were feted with food and door prizes.

The Division helped make Homecoming a success and took home a prize
Thanks to UAB Student Involvement and Leadership, this year’s Homecoming event was a great success. Student Affairs staff from across the Division showed their Blazer pride in the gurney derby, tailgating, decoration contest and the list goes on.

Veteran Services Wreath laying Ceremony
Veteran Services is hosting their annual Wreath Laying Ceremony on Veterans Day Nov. 11 on the Campus Green. They will begin at 1 p.m. and will include a performance by the army band, a guest speaker and refreshments will be provided.

Campus Recreation Introduces Wellness Wednesday's
Campus Recreation will be hosting Wellness Wednesday's on every Wednesday from now until the end of the semester. These sessions will cover topics ranging from sex education to nutrition talks with their registered dietician, Ashley Delk.

Tomorrow's bonfire has been cancelled
Due to the recent weather conditions and lack of rain, Jefferson County has issued a Burn Ban. Student Involvement and Leadership has been in communication with Occupational Health & Safety and the Birmingham City Fire Marshall and has been told that they will not be permitted to host the annual bonfire.

Student Nurses’ Association wins Outstanding Student Organization at UAB’s Student Excellence Awards
The Student Excellence Awards honors UAB students and student organizations for their outstanding contributions to campus life in leadership and service. There are currently 256 registered student organizations on campus. This year, 112 nominations were submitted for the 15 award categories.
