• 2025 UAB Staff Council Wrap-up

  The following is a message from UAB Staff Council Chair Lauren Humphreys.

  The year 2025 was a busy year for the UAB Staff Council, and I would love to share some noteworthy accomplishments. We hosted the 2025 Spring Staff Forum on Feb. 4 with UAB leaders who shared updates about the SUCCESS initiative, Title IX, and institutional branding. On Oct. 1 we held the 2025 Fall Staff Picnic at Bartow Arena, bringing together staff members from across campus to enjoy a meal. Staff Council committees worked incredibly hard to engage with the UAB community in many ways.

• NICU donation drive supports families in need

  Throughout the summer, the UAB Staff Council Community Outreach Committee led a donation drive for the UAB Department of Pediatrics Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU). The project was in partnership with the Heersink School of Medicine Department of Pediatrics’ Staff Wellness and Recognition Council. The donations received will support families spending long hours at the hospital and stock the parents’ lounge with items of care.

• Save the date: UAB Staff Council elections

  UAB Staff Council elections are happening next spring! Nominations will open in April 2026, with elections in May 2026. Staff will be invited to nominate themselves or a colleague to represent their school, college, or unit.  Elected representatives will serve from August 2026 to July 2028.

  This is your chance to help strengthen communication and understanding across UAB’s vibrant community and support the University’s vision, mission, values, and goals.

• A message from the new UAB Staff Council Chair

  Dear Fellow Blazers,

  I am excited and grateful to serve as UAB Staff Council Chair for the 2025-2026 cycle. UAB is truly a second home to me. I grew up on this campus and have earned two degrees from UAB. I even met my spouse at UAB when we were both undergraduates almost 20 years ago. I have worked at UAB for more than 13 years in the areas of student services and enrollment operations. I’m proud of my collection of photos with Blaze, and it’s safe to say that I bleed green and gold!
