  • Staff Council - NICU Service Project

    We’re thrilled to announce an exciting service project in partnership with the HSOM Department of Pediatrics’ Staff Wellness and Recognition Council—and we’d love for you to be part of it!

    This summer, the UAB Staff Council Community Outreach Committee is leading a donation drive to support families in the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU). For many of these families, small gestures of kindness can make a big difference during a challenging time.

    Here’s how you can help:
    We’re collecting the following items during June, July, and August:

    • Snacks & shelf-stable food items for families spending long hours at the hospital
      • Boxes of individually wrapped snacks like chips, protein bars, crackers, fruit snacks, etc.
    • Infant onesies/sleepers with snaps
      • Sizes preemie – 5T
      • Must be new and unused
    • Blankets 
      • Must be new and unused
    • Age-appropriate books
      • For babies up to 5-year-olds

     

    Drop-off Details:
    Donations will be accepted at the upcoming Staff Council meetings on:

    • June 25
    • July 23
    • August 27

    Every donation, big or small, will help bring comfort and support to NICU families. Let’s come together as a community to show them how much we care!

  • UAB Staff Council Spring Forum 2025

    The UAB Staff Council will host our annual Spring Forum on Tuesday, March 4 from 9:30am to 11am. The event will be held in the Collat School of Business, room L10. The main entry to the auditorium is on the lower level. Don't miss out on our exclusive swag bags, available to the first 100 attendees on a first-come, first-serve basis!

    Panelists will include:

    • Janet Woodruff-Borden, Ph.D. – Provost and Senior Vice President for Academic Affairs 
    • Bradley Barnes, Ph.D. – Senior Vice Provost for Enrollment Management & Student Success
    • Andrea McDew, Ed.D – Assistant Vice President and Senior Title IX Coordinator
    • Rosie O’Beirne – Chief Digital Strategy & Marketing Officer

    Support Blazer Kitchen: Blazer Kitchen will be collecting donations for their Personal Hygiene Supply Drive at the forum. If you'd like to contribute, here are some of the items needed:

    • Toothpaste, Toothbrushes & Floss
    • Deodorant
    • Hand Soap
    • Female Hygiene Products
    • Shampoo & Conditioner
    • Laundry Pods
    • Dishwashing Liquid

    Strengthen the voice of UAB staff by nominating yourself or a colleague to represent your school, college, or unit for the 2024-2026 UAB Staff Council.  The new representatives will serve a two-year term that begins in August 2024 and ends in July 2026.
