UAB Cyclotron Facility: A Nationwide Resource
The UAB Cyclotron Facility serves as a national resource for the production and distribution of radiopharmaceuticals and research isotopes. Through extensive licensing, specialized shipping capabilities, and trained personnel, the facility supports research programs across the United States and internationally.
Licensing and Distribution Capabilities
The facility maintains multi-state pharmacist, pharmacy, and manufacturing licenses that enable the dispensing and distribution of radiopharmaceuticals to neighboring states. These licenses support the efficient delivery of specialized imaging and therapeutic agents to research and clinical partners beyond Alabama.
Nationwide Isotope Distribution
UAB utilizes DOT-certified shipping containers and internally trained personnel to distribute zirconium-89 (^89Zr^) and other research isotopes safely and compliantly. These capabilities allow the facility to supply radiopharmaceutical products to research institutions throughout the United States and internationally to include Europe and Australia.
Impact and Reach
The UAB Cyclotron Facility has established a broad distribution network that extends across numerous states, supporting academic, clinical, and industry research initiatives. By providing reliable access to radiopharmaceuticals and specialized isotopes, the facility plays a critical role in advancing molecular imaging, precision medicine, and translational research nationwide.
