VIR fellowships sunset on June 30, 2020. Interventional Radiology training across the country moved from the traditional pathway to a residency-based training program. As of June 30, 2020, the only way to train in Interventional Radiology was through either the integrated or independent residency programs. At UAB, our last class of one-year Vascular and Interventional Radiology fellows was AY 2019–2020.

Current R3 and all future Diagnostic Radiology residents who want to become Interventional Radiologists will need to train through Independent IR residency.
