Karen Scott, Ph.D., director of the Forensic Toxicology Laboratory and an associate professor in the Division of Laboratory Medicine, served on the planning committee for the annual meeting and had the honor of welcoming nearly 1400 attendees to The Windy City.
The annual meeting brought together forensic toxicology professionals from around the world to share scientific advancements, professional insights, and collaborative opportunities in the field. Attendees participated in a wide range of workshops, scientific sessions, networking events, and professional development activities.
Scott chaired the workshop, “A Forensic Toxicologists Guide to Pharmacology Studies” and presented on mental health in the workplace. Lisa Godsey, D.O., a neuropathology fellow in the Department of Pathology, presented the poster “Prevalence and Forensic Interpretation of Toxicology Findings in Pediatric Mortality.” Hannah Hynds, Ph.D., a researcher in the Forensic Toxicology Laboratory, presented the poster “Five-Year Retrospective Analysis of Alcohol and Drug Involvement in Motor-Vehicle Related Fatalities in Jefferson County, Alabama.”
