Pathology April 14, 2025

PA_Day_2025_Thumbnail.jpgApril 14 marks the 12th annual Pathologists’ Assistant (PA) Day, led by the American Association of Pathologists’ Assistants. PAs are often responsible for the efficient and effective operation of the anatomic pathology service and play a critical role in the delivery of healthcare services in both surgical pathology and autopsy.

“I have loved the last five years here as a PA,” said Audrey Alexander Garcia, PA(ASCP)CM. “From grossing complex specimens to helping teach PA students, it’s always something new every day! I’m so thankful for our attendings who are always willing to teach us new things to improve patient care. I love doing what I do in my role at UAB as a pathologists’ assistant.”

We are celebrating our hardworking PAs (pictured in order, left to right): Briana Parsons, Joe Begany, Audrey Alexander Garcia and Jessica Doyle.

“Today we pause to recognize and celebrate the incredible work of our PAs. Your tireless dedication, hard work and precision are the foundation of our division’s success. You truly make an impact on the lives of our patients,” said Sarah Anderson, D.O., Forensic Pathology Fellow, Medical Director, Gross Room. “Though much of your work happens out of the spotlight, it never goes unnoticed. Your attention to detail and commitment to excellence are vital to the care we provide. Thank you for your passion, your professionalism and the invaluable role you play on our team. We truly could not do it without you!”
