Siegal_Symposium_Thumbnail.jpgOn April 2, the UAB Department of Pathology honored Gene Siegal, M.D., Ph.D., Robert W. Mowry Endowed Professor, Anatomic Pathology, with a symposium featuring guest speakers, colleagues and former mentees of this esteemed pathologist. Siegal joined UAB in 1990 where he was recruited as division director of Anatomic Pathology and professor in the Department of Pathology, a position he held for 25 years.

The symposium featured opening remarks by Cristina Magi-Galluzzi, M.D., Ph.D., Robert and Ruth Anderson Endowed Chair in Pathology. Speakers of the symposium included Shi Wei, M.D., Ph.D., Division Director, Women’s Health, as well as Michael Klein, M.D., Pathologist in Chief Emeritus, Professor of Pathology and Laboratory Medicine, Weill Cornell College of Medicine.

Additional speakers included Andrew E. Rosenberg, M.D., Clinical Professor and Vice Chair of Faculty Affairs, Department of Pathology and Laboratory Medicine, Miller School of Medicine, University of Miami. E. Blair Holladay, Ph.D., MASCP, SCT(ASCP)CM, CEO, American Society for Clinical Pathology. Finally, Anupam Agarwal, M.D., Senior Vice President for Medicine, Dean, Heersink School of Medicine, Department of Medicine, Nephrology, concluded the symposium.
