Ribbon_cutting_coroners_office_2025.pngThe Jefferson County Coroner/Medical Examiner’s Office has relocated from the old Cooper Green building to a new 32,000 square foot facility on Leaf Lake Pkwy. Greg Davis, M.D., MSPH, Division Director of Forensic Pathology and Jefferson County Coroner, gave an indication and cut the ribbon at the ceremony in conjunction with the Jefferson County Commission on June 23.

The facility was designed by two companies who specialize in pathology and laboratory spaces, Poole and Company Architects and MWL Architects, in collaboration with Doster Construction. The building is intended to serve the needs of Jefferson County for the next 30 years with additional room for expansion. It features increased examination space and storage capacity, a CT scanner, which will expedite examinations and the recovery of evidence, an isolation room to examine potentially dangerous or infectious cases, a conference room for training sessions with law enforcement and attorneys, a private meeting room for relatives of the deceased and a drive-through port for transfers.

“This facility will help us to serve our community more efficiently and effectively,” Davis said. “We are thankful for the team of people who have helped us get here and to the resources designated by the county for our office’s new home.”
