The College of Arts and Sciences (CAS) Champions are expected to engage with all areas of CAS throughout the academic year. Champions support the University’s shared values: Collaborate, Act with Integrity, Respect All, and Excel.

Champions are expected to support CAS in connecting other students to the university and to the community. They assist the Dean’s Office in supporting storytelling efforts in partnership with CAS communications, hosting special events, participating in recruitment efforts, and supporting Homecoming Week and alumni events.

Champions may also participate in similar events deemed appropriate by Dean Kecia M. Thomas.

2025-2026 CAS Champions

The deadline for applications is Friday, August 1.

Requirements

• Complete a formal application and interview process.
• Be a full-time UAB student enrolled in a College of Arts and Sciences undergraduate degree program. 
• Be at the Sophomore, Junior, or Senior level in good standing with the university with an overall 3.00 GPA. 
• Maintain an overall 3.00 cumulative GPA.  
• Willingness to serve for the duration of the academic year with in person activities in both Fall 2025 and Spring 2026, attend regular meetings and events, and virtual events during the summer.
• Demonstrate good communication skills, be able to represent CAS and UAB, and have a great attitude.  
• Complete other requirements as established.

In total, the College will select four CAS Champions: one student from the Arts and Humanities; one student from the Social and Behavioral Sciences; one student from the Natural Sciences and Mathematics; and one student from the Shared Programs with the Heersink School of Medicine (e.g. neuroscience, immunology).
