Blazers@BHM

Blazers@BHM is a three-day immersive experience designed to kickstart first-year students’ engagement with the campus and community. Participants move-in to their residence halls early (if living on-campus) and are quickly connected to their peer group and mentor. There is a $50 participation fee required for this experience. Students with financial need can request a scholarship to cover this expense. The fee link will be shared once your registration form has been reviewed. Fees are due July 30th.

There are three organizations that participate in Blazers@BHM. All participants will be assigned to 1 organization for Blazers@BHM, and your experience will continue throughout the year with the assigned organization. Registrants will be able to indicate their preferred organization(s) on the registration form.

Organizations include:

  1. First Impact: A leadership development organization that empowers first-year students at UAB to build community, engage in service, and develop essential leadership skills.
  2. First Blazers: A mentoring program dedicated to supporting UAB’s first-generation college students through peer mentorship, resources, and community-building initiatives.
  3. Blazer Mentorship Collective: A campus-wide mentoring network that connects UAB students with peer, alumni, and professional mentors to foster academic success, career readiness, and personal growth.
