Good Work – National Student Employment Week, April 12–18, UAB Career Center

The Division of Student Affairs and the UAB Career Center will celebrate the Good Work of student employees across campus in recognition of National Student Employment Week, April 12–18.

Observed annually by colleges and universities nationwide, National Student Employment Week, created by the National Student Employment Association (NSEA), recognizes the vital role student employees play on and off campus while gaining meaningful professional experience. The purpose of the week is to increase awareness and acknowledge students who work while attending college.

Throughout the week, departments will highlight the impact of student employees who contribute to programs, services, and initiatives that enhance the campus community. From supporting daily operations to providing essential services for students and visitors, student employees help power the work in Student Affairs.

“Student employees bring energy, creativity, and leadership to their workplaces every day. The Good Work campaign celebrates the campus and community impact of our working students while highlighting the skills, connections, and confidence they are building for their futures.”

Dr. Lauren Cotant, Director, UAB Career Center

Student employment provides opportunities for students to develop transferable skills such as communication, teamwork, problem-solving, and leadership. Supervisors also play an important role in mentoring students and creating meaningful learning experiences within the workplace.
