ABM New Student Checklist

  • Step 1: Meet with your Accelerated Learning Opportunity Advisor

    Meet with James Bush (bushjl@uab.edu), Accelerated Learning Opportunity Advisor, to determine program eligibility.

    You must meet the following admissions requirements to be considered for the ABM program:

    • Between 60 and 90 hours of undergraduate coursework completed
      • 36 hours must be at UAB
    • Minimum 5 institutional GPA
    • Completed admissions application through the UAB Graduate School website
      • If you are in the Early Acceptance Program (EAP), STOP and proceed to Step 2
    • One letter of recommendation: from current or previous UAB course Electronic submission is preferred; however, referees can mail a letter in a sealed envelope directly to the Graduate School.
    • A career statement describing their interests and goals and
    • A one-page CV/resume of academic activities including awards and community service

    Application Deadlines:

    • Spring - November 1st
    • Summer - April 1st
    • Fall - July 1st
  • Step 2: Meet with your Undergraduate Advisor

    Once eligibility is confirmed, you must meet with your undergraduate advisor to determine which graduate courses might count towards your undergraduate degree and in which semesters the graduate coursework may be completed. During this meeting, you should start the ABM form.

  • Step 3: Meet with your prospective graduate advisor

    Meet with your prospective graduate advisor to confirm the courses to be counted towards your undergraduate degree. Not only will they be able to confirm your curriculum plan, but also answer any of your program specific questions! Include your undergraduate advisor in this meeting, to ensure no questions are left unanswered!

  • Step 4: Submit your ABM form

    Submit your ABM form to James Bush, Accelerated Learning Opportunity Advisor, via bushjl@uab.edu. (cc: undergraduate and graduate advisor).

  • Step 5: Submit an application

    If you’re a traditional ABM applicant, you must submit an application.

    If you are in the Early Acceptance Program, you are not required to submit an application through the Graduate School, but will need to upload your ABM form to the Early Acceptance Intent to Enroll Form.
