Owen Bailey, MSHA Class 22, named CEO of USA Health
Owen Bailey, alumnus of the UAB School of Health Professions' Master of Science in Health Administration program (Class 22) and a veteran health care leader who has served as chief operating officer of USA Health since March 2016, has been named chief executive officer and senior associate vice president for medical affairs of the comprehensive academic health care system dedicated to helping people lead longer, better lives.

Class of 2015Whitley Kelley doesn’t make designer babies. Or spend all day breaking bad news to families.
“Misconceptions abound about the role of a genetic counselor, and genetic testing in general,” says Kelley, a 2015 graduate of the UAB School of Health Professions’ Master of Science in Genetic Counseling program. She is one of three genetic counselors on staff at the HudsonAlpha Institute for Biotechnology in Huntsville, which includes Meagan Cochran, a 2012 graduate of the UAB GC program who was featured in a 2013 UAB Magazine article “Speaking in Code: Preparing Students for a New Era in Genetic Counseling.” Read more

PT alumna Da Silva wins Outstanding PT Faculty Award
Da Silva with Faculty of the Year awardCarolyn Da Silva, PT, DSc, NCS, alumna of the UAB School of Health Professions’ Department of Physical Therapy, was awarded the 2016 Outstanding Physical Therapy Faculty Award, recognizing merit in teaching, service, and reseach. She is the first UAB alumna to win the William Gould Memorial honor from the Texas Physical Therapy Association (TPTA).

MSHA alumni help Texas hospital win Baldrige Award
Chuck Stokes (MSHA Class 17) EVP/COO, Memorial HermannThe prestigious Malcolm Baldrige National Quality Award, presented annually by the President of the United States, has been awarded to Memorial Hermann Sugar Land Hospital. Two alumni of the UAB School of Health Professions’ Master of Science in Health Administration program hold significant roles in the hospital and the health system.
Chuck Stokes (MSHA Class 17) is EVP/COO of the Memorial Hermann Health System, and Kate Willis (MSHA Class 49) is the director of Service Line Operations for Sugar Land Hospital.

MSHA alumnus named president, CEO of new Quorum Health Corporation

The move became official on April 29, 2016, when Community Health Systems announced it completed the spinoff of QHC from CHS.
