Adam Baumgarten, M.D., MBA, assistant professor in the UAB Department of Urology, Departmental Value Officer, Associate Residency Program Director, and Director of Medical Student Education, has been selected to join the 2025–2026 Leadership Class of the American Urological Association (AUA) Institute for Leadership & Business.
Representing the Southeastern Section, Baumgarten is a part of a nationally recognized program designed to shape the future leaders of urology.
“I am honored to represent the Southeastern Section and UAB in the AUA Leadership Program,” Baumgarten stated. “I am excited to grow as a leader and collaborate with peers and mentors who are passionate about shaping the future of our field.”
Established in 2004, the AUA Leadership Program is one of the most competitive professional development initiatives in the field. Now entering its 11th class, the program offers a comprehensive year-long experience that includes leadership training, collaborative group projects with expert mentors, engagement in the Annual Urology Advocacy Summit, and networking opportunities at the AUA Annual Meeting.
Baumgarten’s clinical and surgical practice is focused on genitourinary reconstruction, urologic trauma, and prosthetic urology. After completing his residency at the University of South Florida, he pursued a urologic trauma, reconstruction, and prosthetics fellowship at the University of Texas Southwestern Medical Center. His clinical expertise includes the treatment of ureteral and urethral stricture disease, erectile dysfunction, male stress urinary incontinence, Peyronie’s disease, buried penis, and genitourinary fistulas.
