The UAB Pancreatobiliary Disease Center (PDC) is honored to welcome new staff and faculty to support patients across the Southeast and beyond.

Meet Jimmy Carter

Jimmy Carter will be joining the PDC as Patient Services Coordinator II.

Through this role, he will directly connect with patients and guide them through the process of receiving care across the multidisciplinary center.

Meet Dr. Nikhil Jayaram

Nikhil Jayaram, M.D., is an academic gastroenterologist with specialized expertise in pancreatology, and will serve the PDC as a member of the multidisciplinary faculty.

Dr. Jayaram completed his initial training at the Postgraduate Institute of Medical Education and Research (PGIMER) in India, followed by advanced GI training in the United States, including a clinical fellowship at Johns Hopkins University.

His research interests focus on pathophysiology of abdominal pain in pancreatitis, pancreatic calculi management, exocrine and endocrine pancreatic dysfunction, organ failure in severe acute pancreatitis, management of pancreatic fluid collections and the early detection and surveillance of high-grade neoplasia in mucinous pancreatic cystic lesions.

“We are excited to welcome both Jimmy and Dr. Jayaram to the PDC,” says Center Director J. Bart Rose, M.D., MAS. “Our foremost goal is to ensure the streamlined care of our patients and provide support through each step of their healthcare journeys. It is truly an honor to welcome individuals to the PDC who share our commitment and dedication.”
