The UAB General Surgery Residency Program has named the new members of the 2025–2026 General Surgery Residency Council.
The Residency Council plays a vital role in fostering communication between residents and program leadership. Meeting monthly, the council serves as a forum to voice resident concerns, propose solutions and help shape the educational experience of the residency program.
The members were elected to the council by their peers.
“The Residency Council is an essential part of how we ensure our program reflects the needs and priorities of our trainees,” said General Surgery Residency Program Director Britney Corey, M.D., MACM. “I’m impressed by the dedication and insight our resident leaders bring to the program.”
In addition to representing their peers, council members work closely with faculty to support initiatives that enhance wellness, community and professional development. Leadership positions such as the wellness and social media chairs provide additional structure for organizing resident-led activities and communication efforts.
