Dr. KopeckyUAB Division of Surgical Oncology Assistant Professor Kimberly Kopecky, M.D., MSCI, will co-moderate the American College of Surgeons (ACS) Symposium for Research in Surgical Palliative Care, which will be hosted on Thursday, May 8, 2025, from 7–8:30 p.m.

About Dr. Kimberly Kopecky

Kopecky completed her medical degree at Harvard Medical School and surgical residency at Stanford Hospital. She completed a hospice and palliative medicine fellowship at the University of Wisconsin prior to her surgical oncology fellowship training.

She joined UAB surgical faculty as a specialist in peritoneal surface malignancies and hyperthermic intraperitoneal chemotherapy (HIPEC). She also takes care of patients with gastric, appendiceal, colorectal, and small bowel cancers. In the past year, she has been nominated as a UAB Center of Palliative and Supportive Care (CPSC) Scholar member and was awarded the SSO Young Investigator Award.
