Kimberly Hendershot, M.D., a professor in the Division of Trauma and Acute Care Surgery, is now president of the Alabama Chapter of the American College of Surgeons (ACS).

Her election to this leadership position reflects her strong commitment to advocacy, mentorship, and collaboration across the surgical community. As president, she will play a key role in shaping initiatives that support surgical practice and advance professional development opportunities for surgeons across the state.

“As surgeons, we are constantly striving not only to deliver the best possible care for our patients but also to support one another in advancing the field,” Hendershot said. “I am honored to serve as president and look forward to working with colleagues across Alabama to strengthen surgical education, improve patient outcomes, and advocate for the future of our profession.”
