UAB Division of Breast & Endocrine Surgery Assistant Professor Andrea Gillis, M.D., MSPH, has been selected for the Southern Surgical Association (SSA) Leadership Development Program (LDP) -- a prestigious recognition awarded to emerging surgical leaders.

The SSA LDP identifies and supports surgeons with outstanding potential for academic promotion, leadership roles, and future membership through the year-long program. As a participant, Gillis will take part in structured mentorship opportunities, leadership training, and networking events with senior SSA members.

Gillis’ selection reflects not only her exceptional contributions to endocrine surgery, but also her dedication to mentorship, innovation, and advancing surgical care.
