The UAB Department of Radiology is proud to recognize nine faculty members who have earned promotions in recognition of their outstanding contributions to research, education, clinical care, and service. These promotions are effective as of Oct. 1, 2026.

Congratulations to the following faculty members.
Constantine Burgan, M.D.
Promoted to professor
Burgan joined the department in June 2017. He serves as associate professor, chief of ultrasound, and program director for the UAB Diagnostic Radiology Residency Program.
Virendra Mishra, Ph.D.
Promoted to professor
Mishra joined the department in Oct. 2022. He serves as associate professor and co-director of the Research MRI Core.
Anna Sorace, Ph.D.
Promoted to professor
Sorace joined the department in Dec. 2020. She serves as associate professor and director of the Advanced Medical Imaging Research Division.
Kathryn Zamora, M.D.
Promoted to professor
Zamora joined the department in Aug. 2015. She serves as associate professor, director of the Breast Imaging Fellowship Program, and co-director of the Women’s Imaging Fellowship Program.
Rachel Bass, M.D.
Promoted to associate professor
Bass joined the department in July 2019. She serves as assistant professor, co-director of the Radiology Wellness Committee, and associate program director for the Diagnostic Radiology Residency Program.
Daniel Goldberg-Zimring, Ph.D.
Promoted to associate professor
Goldberg-Zimring joined the department in March 2016. He serves as assistant professor.
Veeranjaneyulu Prattipati, M.D.
Promoted to associate professor
Prattipati joined the department in March 2014. He serves as assistant professor and chief of the neuroradiology imaging section.
Manoj Tanwar, M.D.
Promoted to associate professor
Tanwar joined the department in July 2020. He serves as assistant professor.
