The University of Alabama at Birmingham Department of Pediatrics is proud to introduce Zach Garmon, a valued staff member of the Pediatric Administration team! Garmon has been a steady force in the Department of Pediatrics for 15 years. Known for his financial expertise and calm problem-solving approach, Garmon supports Pediatric Administration through tasks like budget management, payment processing and monthly reporting.
He describes his job in one word: complex. But that’s exactly what he enjoys. Each challenge gives him an opportunity to think critically, learn something new and grow professionally.
What’s kept Garmon at UAB for more than a decade? The people. “The work environment is supportive and collaborative,” he said. “I’ve built strong relationships here and I find fulfillment in contributing to UAB’s mission and the impact we make in the community.”
Outside of work, Garmon enjoys playing softball, riding dirt bikes with his kids and coaching their sports teams. He also brings lessons from coaching into the workplace, especially around communication and listening. “Taking the time to understand people’s perspectives really helps build stronger relationships,” he said.
Recently, Garmon earned his MBA with a 4.0 GPA and was named top graduate student at the University of Montevallo, a milestone he’s especially proud of.
“We genuinely help each other,” he said. “That kind of teamwork makes all the difference.”
