For the 16th consecutive year, Children’s of Alabama has been ranked among the nation’s best children’s hospitals by U.S. News & World Report.
Children’s, the primary site for pediatric clinical and educational programs for the University of Alabama at Birmingham Heersink School of Medicine, has provided specialized care for ill and injured children since 1911. The hospital offers inpatient and outpatient services across the Southeast and has participated in the U.S. News & World Report rankings program since its creation, consistently earning recognition for its commitment to excellence in pediatric care.
This year, U.S. News & World Report ranked Children’s in the top 50 nationally across eight pediatric specialties:
- Cardiology and heart surgery
- Cancer
- Endocrinology and diabetes
- Gastroenterology and gastrointestinal surgery
- Nephrology
- Neurology and neurosurgery
- Pulmonology
- Orthopedics
Rankings are determined through detailed clinical data that assess patient safety, infection prevention, adequacy of nursing staff and other key measures of quality.
