The University of Alabama at Birmingham Department of Neurosurgery is pleased to welcome Hohyun Cho, Ph.D.
Cho, a neuroscientist and computer scientist, joins the department as a research scientist in the lab of Assistant Professor of Neurosurgery Jasmine Thum, M.D. His expertise spans human intracranial electrophysiology, computational modeling and brain-computer interfaces.
His research focuses on understanding how cortical and subcortical circuits generate human behavior, using tools such as stereo EEG and single-neuron recordings. He also studies how direct electrical stimulation of these circuits can improve behavior or restore function in individuals with neurological disorders.
In his new role, Cho plans to collaborate closely with physicians and scientists to produce high-impact research and drive progress in translational neuroscience.
