The University of Alabama at Birmingham Department of Neurosurgery is pleased to announce that Terri Epting will join the department as director of fiscal affairs, effective Aug. 11.

Epting brings more than 36 years of professional experience in accounting and management, along with more than 24 years of human resource management experience. A certified public accountant (CPA), she has served in leadership roles across UAB for more than two decades, most recently as executive administrator for the Department of Biochemistry and Molecular Genetics.

Since joining the Heersink School of Medicine in 2022, Epting has contributed to a number of institutional initiatives, including serving on the search committee for the school’s executive director for finance, the selection committee for the 2024 Dean’s Excellence Awards for Staff and the 2025 Budget Task Force.

She is a 2023 graduate of the UAB Medicine Institute for Leadership and a 2025 graduate of the Momentum Leaders in Medicine at UAB program.

Epting earned her bachelor’s degree in management from Georgia Tech in Atlanta, a master’s degree in management of technology from Southern Tech in Marietta, Georgia, and completed her accounting degree equivalency coursework at UAB.
