UAB recognized Nanda in 2017 with an endowment in his name to support a faculty scholar; the first appointee was Julian Booker, M.D. Over 21 leading organizations have recognized Nanda as the “Father of Echocardiography” or the “Father of Modern Echocardiography” in honor of his revolutionary discoveries and contributions to the technique.
