Haifa Alsharif, Ph.D., and Katherine Perez at Boshell Day.UAB Comprehensive Diabetes Center (UCDC) researchers joined experts from around the United States to present current topics related to diabetes at the 16th Annual Boshell Research Day on April 4.
The forum, presented by Auburn University, highlighted outstanding research in the areas of diabetes, obesity, cardiovascular disease, inflammation, and other metabolic diseases by investigators at institutions throughout the country.
Researchers from the labs of UCDC members Sushant Bhatnagar, Ph.D. and Kirk Habegger, Ph.D., UAB Department of Medicine Division of Endocrinology, Diabetes, and Metabolism, and Adam Wende, Ph.D., UAB Department of Pathology Division of Molecular and Cellular Pathology, were selected to showcase their work at this year’s event near Auburn, Alabama.
Haifa Alsharif, Ph.D., Katherine Perez, and Justin Alexander represented the Bhatnagar Lab. Teayoun Kim, Ph.D., and Khadija Seck represented the Habegger Lab, and Mahima Reddy and Md Saimoon Rahman represented the Wende Lab.
“Boshell Research Day allows the UCDC to continue to strengthen our longstanding partnership with diabetes research networks outside of Birmingham,” said UCDC Director Anath Shalev, M.D. “We are grateful that our trainees and researchers have this avenue to present their novel findings and engage with colleagues in our field year after year. We commend the event organizers for hosting another successful gathering of the diabetes research community this year.”
