Dawn Williams, M.A., has been appointed as the inaugural Director of Internal Administrative Operations. This newly established role aims to strengthen internal alignment of existing administrative resources supporting the department’s expanding number of strategic initiatives.

In this position, Williams will assume additional administrative responsibilities for departmental strategic projects, clinical faculty recruitment and retention, and professional development and wellness, while maintaining her current oversight of the department’s communications team. She will work closely and in partnership with our physician directors with responsibilities for these areas of focus to ensure our teams have the resources needed to be successful.

Prior to this appointment, Williams served as the department’s Director of Communications, where she led high-impact projects such as the annual Year in Review, supported recruitment strategies, and worked to align departmental efforts with broader institutional goals.

Williams brings more than a decade of experience at UAB Medicine and more than 20 years of strategic communications expertise across a variety of industries.

“I am excited for Dawn to have this opportunity to expand her scope of responsibilities in the department,” says Executive Administrator Lee Hammonds, MSHA, MBA. “There was broad recognition that we had an opportunity to better align and structure some of our administrative processes and strategic initiatives, and it was universally felt that Dawn was the right leader to bring this all together in a meaningful and productive way.”
