Translational Gerontology and Geroscience (TG2)
Funded by the NIH National Institute on Aging (T32AG099811)
The overarching goal of the predoctoral program is to develop dedicated, motivated, and
well- trained scientists in translational gerontology and geroscience. The program will
teach trainees how to conduct, and the importance of, integrative research that spans from
understanding disease at the cellular level to improving clinical practices.
Expectations of trainees include participation in a relevant research project related to
interdisciplinary aging science under the guidance of expert faculty mentors from areas of
concentrated strength, including:
1) Cellular & Molecular Aging Biology
2) Translational Aging Physiology & Clinical Research
3) Epidemiology & Stakeholder-Focused Research
Trainees are also expected to participate in career development activities including
coursework, distinguished lectures, work-in-progress groups, journal clubs, the annual
symposium, and others. Training will occur in one of three domains of health:
- Physical
- Mental
- Social
