About the Program

Effective teaching requires adapting instructional strategies that support student learning in a range of educational situations. The Teaching and Learning in Higher Education (TLHE) graduate certificate equips future educators with the knowledge and practical skills needed for promoting student learning in higher education.

This 15-credit-hour graduate certificate combines teaching and learning theory with direct application to help participants develop effective instructional strategies, understand learning theory, assess student learning, and create supportive classroom environments. Through four required courses, including a practicum, and one elective, you'll gain the tools and confidence to improve your teaching across disciplines. Whether you're preparing for a future faculty role or enhancing your current teaching practice, the TLHE curriculum prepares you for instruction in all higher education settings.
