About the Program

While teaching at the college or university level is a key part of what graduate students, postdoctoral fellows, faculty, and staff do in their respective roles, many people don’t receive pedagogical training that prepares them to be successful in the virtual or on-campus classroom. Successful teachers understand how people learn and develop approaches and strategies that support that understanding. The Interdisciplinary Teaching and Learning in Higher Education (TLHE) graduate certificate provides exactly that insight and training, training future educators on how to be successful and how to provide supportive, inclusive environments for their students, regardless of discipline.

The TLHE certificate focuses on combining teaching and learning theory with practical applications, so you understand the why as well as the how. The certificate includes four required courses and one elective that provides the training you need to build confidence in your teaching. The required courses include a practicum.
