Dr. Henderson is a medical anthropologist and health services researcher who is strongly committed to improving the quality of care that all patients with cancer receive by bridging the gap between local and biomedical cultures. Her dual degree PhD in Medical Anthropology from the University of Alabama and Psychiatric Nursing from the University of Sao Paulo in Ribeirao Preto, as well as her MPH in Health Education and Promotion uniquely position her to conduct qualitative and mixed-methods research in the cancer space. Her primary research interests relate to the role of culture in medicine and medical research. Specifically, this includes areas of information dissemination and sharing during complex medical decision-making and ensuring proper cultural “fit” between complex health interventions and the contexts in which they are implemented.
