Paxton Gillispie
Major: Biomedical Engineering
Why did you become an LCM: I wanted to become an LCM because I enjoy connecting with other students, and I wanted the opportunity to help residents find their community here at UAB, and especially within the School of Engineering.
Other extra-curriculars: Undergraduate Student Government Association (USGA), Society of Women Engineers, School of Engineering Student Ambassador, Honors College, and I am in a research lab.
Favorite place on campus: The new courtyard outside the Science and Engineering Complex!
What I wish I had known: Something I wish I had known before becoming an LCM is just how rewarding the experience would be! In this role, I have had the chance to connect with other students and residents as well as learn practical skills such as problem-solving and creative thinking. Also, as an LCM, I feel we have a special opportunity to mentor students and support them through their first year of college, and being able to make a positive difference in someone else’s college journey is an experience that I will never forget.
