JAT Fireworks

“When I photographed Birmingham's fireworks on July 4, I caught this little pre-show warmup from Birmingham residents. I was drawn to the UAB signage with the fireworks in the distance. There's something really cool about a city skyline at night!” — Jennifer Alsabrook-Turner, university photographer

IML Eng Lab

“I loved the natural light from this shot in the Gorrie Hall Design and Prototyping Lab. It was a beautiful day outside and this lab has lots of huge windows. You can see why the students love working in there!” — Ian Logue, university photographer

AM Back to School

“This photo of a coworker's child shows her excitement for her new school supplies as she gets ready for kindergarten this year. Her smile, the beautiful light, and the greens and pinks create a lovely scene.” — Andrea Mabry, university photographer

AM Downs

“Dr. Crawford Downs harvests dahlias from his home garden during a photo shoot for the upcoming issue of UAB Magazine. Gardens are my happy place, so spending time with Dr. Downs in his had my creative brain firing away.” — Andrea Mabry, university photographer

JAT Playground

"I had so much fun photographing children for a summer photography stock project. We visited the playground at CityWalk — a cool place and a cute kid!"— Jennifer Alsabrook-Turner, university photographer

IML Prosthetic

"The School of Engineering caters to all kinds of ideas that students may come up with. I loved this shot of a student showing off his prosthetic leg project. So much work has clearly gone into it.” — Ian Logue, university photographer

AM Benveniste

"Dr. Tika Benveniste speaks during the ribbon cutting ceremony for the McCallum Basic Health Science Building. This ribbon cutting was in tight quarters, so I had to be creative with where I stood, since it was difficult to get the speaker and audience in one frame. This photo was made through two layers of glass—the audience reflected in the one closest to me."— Andrea Mabry, university photographer

JAT Smoothie

"Fruit smoothie anyone? We had a blast photographing in McMahon Hall. What a beautiful residence hall! May I move in? "— Jennifer Alsabrook-Turner, university photographer

AM Clinic

"A nurse draws blood from a patient in UAB's sickle cell clinic. The number of filled vials shows the amount of testing that has to be done for these patients. This photo was taken to be included in a new piece of art that will hang in the entryway to the clinic. I always love having the opportunity to spend extended time with a subject, and this project allowed me to spend two mornings in the clinic."— Andrea Mabry, university photographer
