In just 15 minutes, employees can gain a clearer picture of their health without leaving campus. Wellscreens, the annual biometric health screenings from UAB Employee Wellness and Live HealthSmart Alabama, return Sept. 21.
Registration for 2026 dates opens Aug. 10 for all benefit-eligible UAB, UAB Hospital, UAB LLC, UAB Health System/UA Health Services Foundation and Cooper Green employees.
The free, 15-minute screening measures blood pressure, total cholesterol, LDL cholesterol, HDL cholesterol, blood sugar, BMI, triglycerides and cholesterol/HDL ratio, giving participants a snapshot of their overall health status. Participants will receive their results at the end of their appointment and will be able to access them within the My Health Rewards portal 15 days following the screening.
“Wellscreens are a simple way for employees to learn more about their health right here on campus,” said Employee Wellness Manager Emily Skaggs. “In one quick visit, you can get valuable insight into key health indicators and take a proactive step toward supporting your overall well-being.”
New this year, the Employee Wellness team is offering a webinar on Aug. 12 for first-time participants or those not sure what to expect. The Wellscreen Walkthrough will explain what happens during an appointment and how to prepare, as well as tips to help participants have a smooth and stress-free screening experience.
My Health Rewards participants can once again earn 1,500 points for their Wellscreens visit. The wellness incentive program allows eligible employees enrolled in a 2026 medical plan to earn up to $350 a year by completing healthy activities and behaviors throughout the year — including a Wellscreen. Employees who are unable to schedule a Wellscreens visit, or who have already had lab work taken after Jan. 1 that meets the requested metrics, can earn points by having a healthcare provider complete and return a Wellscreens Physician Attestation Form online.
