UAB Employee Wellness is introducing Nutu, a personalized digital health and wellness app available at no cost to eligible UAB employees.
Nutu is designed to provide ongoing, practical support for building healthier daily habits to support weight health and help prevent diabetes. It is available at no cost to employees of UAB, UAB Hospital, UAB LLC, UA Health Services Foundation, UAB Health System and Cooper Green who are enrolled in a UAB medical plan as the primary policy holder.
A special program is available for employees who have prediabetes or elevated blood sugar, are working to manage their weight, have high cholesterol or other metabolic-health risk factors, or want to reduce their future risk of developing Type 2 diabetes. A flexible program is also available for those looking for a little extra assistance in sustainable habit change. Both programs feature nutrition, activity and sleep tracking, 24/7 digital coaching, behavioral nudges, and smart tools including a restaurant guide and barcode scanner to help participants stay on track.
Participants of both programs also receive a personalized metabolic Nutu Score that resets daily and encourages balance over calorie counting.
One App, Two Programs:
The Diabetes Prevention Program is a structured program that includes a CDC-based curriculum and support from a certified coach, in addition to nutrition, activity and sleep tracking, 24/7 digital coaching, behavioral nudges, community support, and a daily metabolic Nutu Score.
The Healthy Living Program for Weight Health is a flexible program that includes SMART habit-building goals, in addition to nutrition, activity and sleep tracking, digital coaching, behavioral nudges, community support and a daily metabolic Nutu Score.
Nutu also gives My Health Rewards participants a new way to earn points. Eligible employees enrolled in the 2026 My Health Rewards program earn 200 points for enrolling, with an additional 100-point bonus for enrolling by Dec. 31, 2026, as well up to 100 points each month through ongoing engagement.
Nutu is intended to complement, not replace, care from a healthcare provider. To enroll, or to learn more and review eligibility, visit Nutu’s UAB enrollment page.
