Eric Jack, Ph.D., associate professor in the Department of Management, Information Systems and Quantitative Methods and associate dean of the UAB Collat School of Business since 2008, has been named the school’s interim dean. Jack’s appointment is effective Oct. 1, 2012.
"The School of Business is renowned for academic excellence and its entrepreneurial spirit, and I know Eric will extend that tradition,” says UAB Provost Linda Lucas, Ph.D.
Lucas says a national search for a permanent dean is under way; the committee is chaired by Max Michael, M.D., dean of the UAB School of Public Health.
Jack earned a bachelor of science degree in industrial engineering from Georgia Tech, a master of business degree from Wright State University and a doctorate from the University of Cincinnati in operations management.
“I am honored by the confidence that has been entrusted in me, and I am excited by the track record of success and the expectation that our outstanding and caring team of faculty and staff will continue to deliver excellent programs and positive outcomes for our students and stakeholders,” Jack says.
Jack served 21 years as an officer in the United States Air Force. He is a member of the Academy of Management, Decision Sciences Institute, Production and Operations Management Society and Association for Operations Management.
