Biography
Dr. Matthew Romine is an assistant professor in the UAB Division of Gastrointestinal Surgery. He joined the faculty of the UAB Department of Surgery in 2025.
After attending medical school at the Medical College of Georgia, Dr. Romine attended UAB for the General Surgery Residency Program, followed by additional training as a fellow in the Minimally Invasive and Bariatric Surgery Fellowship program at UAB. He was a general surgeon at ECU Health before returning to UAB as a faculty member.
Dr. Romine is interested in laparoscopic and robotic minimally invasive general surgery, including foregut, bariatric surgery, and complex abdominal wall hernias.
