Magi_GUPS_president.JPGCristina Magi-Galluzzi, M.D., Ph.D., Robert and Ruth Anderson Endowed Chair in Pathology, has been named president of the Genitourinary Pathology Society (GUPS), effective April 1.

GUPS was established in 2018 with the vision of advancing the care of patients with urologic disease through the enhancement of best practices, research and education. Boasting close to 700 members from over 60 countries, the primary goal of GUPS is to teach advances in urological pathology to pathologists worldwide.

Magi-Galluzzi, a founder of GUPS, is board-certified in anatomic pathology, with clinical interests including benign and pre-neoplastic (such as HGPIN) of the prostate gland, as well as prostate, bladder and kidney cancer. She has lectured at national and international medical meetings and has authored more than 80 scientific papers on genitourinary topics, including the treatment and risk factors for prostate cancer.

“I am honored and proud to serve as incoming president of GUPS and look forward to working alongside our skilled and dedicated members to advance the field of urologic pathology in keeping aligned with the organization’s mission, vision and values,” Magi-Galluzzi said.
