July 22 marks the 12th annual World Brain Day, a global campaign led by the World Federation of Neurology (WFN) to promote brain health across all stages of life. This year’s theme, “Brain Health for All Ages,” emphasizes the importance of neurological care from preconception through late adulthood.
The WFN recognizes that brain health is essential for individual well-being and societal progress. This year, they aim to share five key messages: awareness, education, prevention, access to care, and advocacy. All five messages align with the theme “brain health for all ages” and allow for conversations surrounding neurological research and health.
At the Heersink School of Medicine, the departments of Neurobiology, Neurology, Neurosurgery, along with centers like the McKnight Brain Institute, contribute to advancing neurological research and treatment. UAB’s advancements in brain health benefit patients throughout Alabama and the Southeast. On World Brain Day, UAB celebrates the opportunity to raise awareness and advocate for brain health at every stage of life.
Everyone can support the global movement by spreading the word about brain health, promoting healthy practices, and advocating for the resources essential to protecting brain health.
