The Medical Scribe Program is an essential part of the clinical operations infrastructure within UAB Emergency Medicine. Medical scribes work directly alongside physicians in the emergency department, assisting with real-time documentation of patient encounters. By managing the electronic health record, scribes help improve the efficiency and accuracy of clinical workflows—allowing physicians to spend more time focused on patient care. In addition to supporting the healthcare team, the program offers an outstanding opportunity for hands-on, educational clinical experience—ideal for those interested in pursuing a future career in medicine or other health professions.
