The UAB Department of Emergency Medicine Section of Prehospital Medicine works to improve patient outcomes and strengthen emergency care systems before patients arrive at the hospital.
The section advances evidence-based prehospital medicine through clinical oversight, education, research, innovation and collaboration with emergency medical services agencies and other community partners.
Its work supports the full continuum of emergency care, with an emphasis on strengthening coordination among EMS, emergency departments and hospital-based teams. The section also partners with local, regional and state EMS agencies, public safety organizations and governmental entities to support high-quality prehospital care and systemwide improvement.
