DOM Program for Fellows Cultivates a Community of Health Disparity Advocates

Snyder Named Interim Division Director of GIM
Erin Snyder, M.D., Interim Director of General Internal MedicineErin Snyder, M.D., will serve as Interim Division Director of General Internal Medicine effective October 1. Snyder joined UAB over 17 years ago and has played key roles as a physician, teacher, and leader in the division and department.
Rodriguez Named 2023 President's Awardee for Excellence in Teaching
Martin Rodriguez, M.D.,Professor in the UAB Division of Infectious Diseases Infectious Diseases Professor Martin Rodriguez, M.D., was named a 2023 recipient of the UAB President's Award for Excellence in Teaching which recognizes faculty who are the very best teachers in the university. As the director of Clinical Activities for the Division of Infectious Diseases, a Tinsley Harrison Clinical Scholar, and the director of the Tinsley Harrison General Medicine Service, Rodriguez has taught medical trainees across UAB in both inpatient and outpatient settings.
COERE Celebrates 25 Years of Research, Collaboration and Training

Wednesday afternoon, the Center for Outcomes and Effectiveness Research and Education celebrated 25 years of serving the community through interdisciplinary health services, outcomes research, and training. Founding Director Norman Weissman, Ph.D., (Professor Emeritus, School of Health Professions) opened remarks by reflecting on the establishment of the program. He highlighted the contributions of his team, Catarina Kiefe, M.D., Ph.D., Jeroan Allison, M.D., MS, and UAB leadership.
1917 Clinic Promotes HIV and Sexual Health Awareness at Hill Student Center
L to R: Lynn Matthews, M.D., Tammi Thomas, Bernadette Johnson, and Kachina Kudroff Last Friday, Tammi Thomas, Bernadette Johnson, and Kachina Kudroff from the 1917 Clinic joined UAB's new student orientation to boost HIV awareness and promote sexual health for students. The team provided attendees with educational material, testing resources, and preventive information. In addition, the Camellia Cohort, led by co-investigators and Associate Professors in the UAB Division of Infectious Diseases Lynn Matthews, M.D., and Latesha Elopre, M.D., distributed kits filled with sexual health essentials. The team concluded the day commemorating Southern HIV/AIDS Awareness Day by dispelling common myths associated with the virus. Great work, everyone!
