2025-2026 Dissemination and Implementation Science Pilot Project Award

The Department of Medicine Implementation Science Research Program, in partnership with the Center for Clinical and Translational Science (CCTS), the Center for Outcomes & Effectiveness Research & Education (COERE), and the Forge AHEAD Center, is requesting applications for the 2025–2026 Dissemination and Implementation Science Pilot Project Award. This award is open to investigators focused on data collection or analysis in dissemination and implementation science.  Applications are due Friday, June 27.

New Assistant Vice Chair for Research

The Department of Medicine invites applications for a PhD faculty member to serve as the Assistant Vice Chair for Research. The Assistant Vice Chair for Research will become part of the DOM leadership team, working alongside the team to cultivate a culture of inquiry within the DOM, promote high-impact research across the department, and facilitate collaborations with the Heersink School of Medicine for strategic opportunities.  Applications are due by Monday, June 30, at 5 p.m.

2025 Global Health Reciprocal Innovation Pilot Awards

The Center for AIDS Research, in partnership with the Sparkman Center for Global Health, the Forge Ahead Center, and the Mary Heersink Institute for Global Health, is requesting applications for the 2025 Global Health Reciprocal Innovation Pilot Awards to promote bidirectional or reciprocal innovations in global health research and practice, with a focus on HIV or HIV-associated conditions. Letters of intent are due July 17.

Dean's Excellence Awards for Staff

UAB Heersink School of Medicine is seeking nominations for the 2025 Dean's Excellence Awards for Staff, which honor staff members who have significantly contributed to the core mission areas and have demonstrated outstanding accomplishments beyond their job description. Peers and supervisors may nominate any full-time staff employee in Workgroup A or CApplication deadline is July 17.

Robert A. Kreisberg Award for Faculty Development in Medical Education

The Department of Medicine has opened applications for the 14th annual Robert A. Kreisberg Award for Faculty Development in Medical Education, which provides financial support for the educational enrichment of DOM clinical faculty, particularly for junior or mid-level faculty members who have shown a strong commitment to medical education. The deadline for applications is July 7, at 5 p.m.

2025 UAB Endocrinology Update

The UAB Division of Endocrinology, Diabetes and Metabolism will host its 2025 UAB Endocrinology Update covering the latest in automated insulin delivery for diabetes, osteoporosis, thyroid nodules and cancer, adrenal nodules, metabolic dysfunction, and more. This CME event will be held at Hilton Birmingham on Saturday, August 23 from 8 a.m. - 4p.m. Registration required.

DOM Women in Medicine: Breaking the Glass Ceiling - Taking on a New Leadership Role in Medicine

Panelist Rebekah Weil, M.D., Associate Professor in the UAB Division of General Internal Medicine and Population Science,  Erin Snyder, M.D., Professor in the UAB Division of General Internal Medicine and Population Science,  and Dana Rizk, M.D., Professor in the UAB Division of Nephrology, will join the Department of Medicine's Women in Medicine to discuss when and how women take on new leadership roles. The panelist will share their perspectives, provide insight, give advice, and discuss lessons they've learned along the way. The event will be held in the Wallace Tumor Institute, Room 101B, on Wednesday, September 10, at 4 pm. All who are interested are welcome to attend.
