Institutional Research Core Program (IRCP)
The Institutional Research Core Program was created to promote the development and operation of outstanding Core Facilities that can serve the needs of UAB investigators.The program is designed to provide assistance to Cores in developing sound business plans, preparing and implementing robust standard operating and quality assurance procedures, providing customer-focused service to facilitate the advancement of research and scholarship, and to assist in maintaining the financial stability of the core.

The Heersink School of Medicine Institutes and Cores page offers an organized directory of school-based and university-wide research and clinical entities, ranging from the Alzheimer’s Disease Center and Center for AIDS Research to the O’Neal Comprehensive Cancer Center and the Marnix E. Heersink Institute for Biomedical Innovation.

Facilities
CDIB faculty and trainees have access to an exceptional combination of more than 70 state-of-the-art Scientific Core Facilities and twenty-eight University-Wide Interdisciplinary Research Centers. There are also over seventy-five pilot and departmental research centers and outstanding clinical research facilities including the Center for Clinical and Translational Science (CCTS). Research training opportunities are exceptional and include a diverse range of animal model systems and contemporary technologies. UAB has six health-professional schools, and multi-disciplinary study opportunities are readily available because of the collaborative environment at UAB. The School of Medicine (UASOM) enjoys a tradition of excellence in research and clinical care and is a recognized leader in many fields.
