Robert Howard
Robert Howard serves as Vice President for Information Technology and Chief Information Officer at the University of Alabama at Birmingham, where he leads enterprise technology strategy for a large public research university and academic medical center. With 27 years of experience in higher education and academic healthcare, he is responsible for aligning technology investments, platforms, and operating models with institutional mission, risk, and long-term sustainability.
His leadership focuses on enabling education, research, and patient care while making disciplined decisions that strengthen reliability, security, and fiscal stewardship. He approaches technology leadership with the conviction that systems exist to serve people, because technology creates potential, but people deliver value, and that trust, judgment, and accountability are essential every day.
Robert is a candidate for the Doctor of Science in Healthcare Leadership at UAB and holds graduate degrees in leadership and health services administration.
