Jon R. Marstrander joined the faculty of the UAB Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering in 2005. While at UAB, he has been involved in a variety of research efforts, primarily collaborations with neurologists and neuroscientists at UAB.

Prior to becoming faculty at UAB, he worked as an electrical engineer in industry for more than 16 years. He worked on design and development of hardware and software systems for a broad range of projects. Applications included aerospace, military, scientific, medical, and commercial designs. His specializations include embedded systems hardware and software design, analog and digital hardware design, and field programmable gate arrays.

He has been a licensed Professional Engineer (PE) in the state of Alabama since 1992.
