The School of Dentistry periodically offers travel-based continuing education programs, either hosted by UAB or in collaboration with external partners such as the Association of Continuing Dental Education (ACDE).
These programs combine clinical education with curated travel experiences in destinations around the world. Offerings vary by year and are open to dental professionals, with many drawing strong interest from UAB alumni and practitioners across Alabama and the Southeast.
Iceland: Adventure and CE

Join dental professionals for a week in Iceland exploring glaciers, geothermal landscapes, and coastal regions while participating in a structured continuing education program led by Dean Nico Geurs.
This program blends CE sessions with guided excursions across some of Iceland’s most notable природ landscapes, including the Golden Circle and Snæfellsnes Peninsula.

Vietnam and Cambodia
March 12–21, 2027
Offered through ACDE
This 10-day program explores Vietnam and Cambodia through a combination of continuing education sessions and guided travel experiences, with time in Hanoi, Halong Bay, Hoi An, Danang, and Siem Reap.
Participants engage in scheduled CE lectures integrated throughout the itinerary, alongside site-based learning and cultural experiences. The program also includes a community-based oral health component at Village of Hope.
