3rd Annual Liu Memorial LectureThe UAB School of Dentistry welcomed oral health professionals from across the region to the 3rd Annual Dr. Perng-Ru Liu Memorial Lecture, held September 12–13, 2025, at the Vestavia Hills Civic Center. The event honored the late Dr. Liu’s legacy while offering up to 9 continuing education units (CEUs) through a dynamic mix of expert presentations and resident-led learning.

This year’s lecture drew nearly 120 dentists, including a number of young alumni from the classes of 2021 to 2025, and over 50 hygienists, reflecting the event’s growing reach and relevance across the dental community.

The program highlighted nationally recognized contributors from both within UAB and beyond. Presenters such as Dr. Nico Geurs, Dr. Maninder Kaur, Dr. Carlo Ercoli, and Dr. Wei-Shao Lin explored topics spanning surgical innovation, digital workflows, collaborative care, and the evolving role of hygiene in precision therapy. The weekend offered space for shared learning and professional connection. Karaki extended special thanks to Straumann for sponsoring both the morning and afternoon lectures featuring Drs. Ercoli and Lin.

Adding a personal touch to the weekend, Dr. Liu’s sons, Drs. Stephen and Kenneth Liu, attended the event, offering a reminder of the legacy their father left behind.
