Angela K. Lewis is a native of Birmingham, Alabama. Her research appears in the National Political Science Review, American Review of Politics, Journal of African American Studies, Polity, the International Journal of African Studies, Whose Black Politics, and The Constitutionalism of American States. She is the author of Conservatism in the Black Community: To the Right and Misunderstood.

Dr. Lewis is a member of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Inc. and is involved in various professional associations including the American Political Science Association, the National Conference of Black Political Scientists, and the Southern Political Science Association. She is also actively involved in the Alabama Citizens for Constitutional Reform as a delegate at the 2009 Mock Constitutional Convention.

She is a regular political analyst for Cox-affiliated stations in Birmingham, including 98.7 KISS FM and 610 WAGG AM. She has also provided political commentary for BlackAmericaWeb.com, Alabama Public Radio, CNN.com, WVTA (Tupelo, Mississippi), and WGHP (Greensboro, North Carolina).
