Social workers are often employed in non-profit organizations. While many enter this sector as front-line workers, there is a growing need for social workers trained to effectively manage and lead these organizations.

The Nonprofit Management for Social Work Professionals certificate program allows students in the Master of Social Work opens a new website (MSW) program to gain specialized knowledge in nonprofit management in addition to their clinical/medical MSW training. It prepares individuals for roles in a variety of nonprofit settings, including social service agencies, non-governmental organizations (NGOs), and advocacy groups.

This unique certificate involves a combination of coursework from the MSW program and specialized courses on non-profit management from the Department of Public Service and Public Administration such as fundraising, grant writing, and strategic planning. It will expand career opportunities for MSW students by providing a more efficient and cost-effective way to develop expertise in both clinical/medical social work and nonprofit management compared to completing separate degrees in each of these important fields.
